What to Expect from Your Thermographic Session

What to Expect from Your Thermographic Session

Appointment Overview

A thermography appointment at TDI is probably the easiest imaging you will ever do – and knowing what to expect makes it easier still.

Before you arrive. When you book, we send a short preparation checklist. The theme is simple: arrive with your skin in its natural state – no lotions or powders that day, no intense workout or hot shower right before – so the camera reads you, not your morning routine.

When you arrive. You settle into a private, temperature-controlled imaging room and spend a few minutes acclimating. This is not waiting: equilibrating your skin to the room is what makes your images precise and comparable with future studies.

The imaging itself. Your board-certified technician – always a female technician for breast studies – positions you in front of the camera and captures a series of standardized views. Nothing touches you; there is no compression, injection, or ionizing radiation. Depending on your study, a cold challenge may be part of the protocol.

Afterward. A Board-Certified Clinical Thermologist reviews your study, and your written report arrives by email, typically within 2-3 weeks. It is written to be shared with your healthcare provider – thermography is adjunctive imaging, and its findings are meant for clinical correlation, not self-diagnosis. A phone consultation is available if you would like your report walked through.
