What Is Upper Body Thermography?
Upper body thermography maps the surface heat patterns of your spine, upper back, abdomen, arms, and hands using digital infrared thermal imaging. It is the study patients choose when the story of their body lives above the waist: desk-work shoulders, repetitive-strain arms, a back that aches in ways structural imaging never quite explains – because the issue isn’t always structural; sometimes it’s physiological.
A thermogram doesn’t diagnose the cause of discomfort. What it does is document, objectively and visually, where your body runs warm or cool and whether the two sides match – a concrete record that serves as an adjunct to examination and whatever other testing your healthcare provider considers, and a baseline to compare against next time.
What’s Included
- Full back and spine
- Upper back, zoomed view
- Abdomen and lower torso, excluding the chest or breast region
- Arms and hands, bilateral views
Images are captured by a board-certified technician under controlled room conditions and reviewed by a Board-Certified Clinical Thermologist. Your written report arrives by email, typically within 2-3 weeks; a phone consultation is available on request.
Package Options
Book upper body thermography alone, add another region – breast, facial-thyroid-dental, or lower body – and save $50 in the same visit, or include it in the Full Body study. See our Fees page for pricing.
FAQ
How long does the appointment take?
Long enough to do it right: you’ll acclimate to the imaging room before image acquisition begins, because that equilibration is what makes the study precise and repeatable. Ask when you book and we’ll give you an accurate window.
Is the exam comfortable?
Completely. Nothing touches you – no compression, no injections, no ionizing radiation. You simply stand in position while the camera works.
Can I combine this with another scan?
Yes – you’ll receive $50 off when another region is imaged during the same visit.
Is this covered by insurance?
Coverage varies by plan. Payment is due at the time of service, and we’ll gladly provide a claim form to submit to your insurer.
