It doesn’t take a genius to know that taking care of your body and going for regular physical checkups is an important part of maintaining good health. For women especially, regular self breast exams in tandem with checkups with a women’s healthcare provider are the best preventative measure we can take when it comes to maintaining good breast health. I recently had the good fortune and pleasure of meeting with one such healthcare professional at Thermographic Diagnostic Imaging.
Liesha Getson, TDI’s board certified Thermographic Technician, was the one to perform the thermogram and altogether it was a pleasant experience that I would recommend to anyone looking for this type of service and here’s why:
Easing into things — Liesha walked me through what getting a breast screening using Thermography would be like before we began the process to make sure I was comfortable.
Comforting atmosphere — The thermogram took place in a spa-like room. This helped me to relax since the setting didn’t feel particularly cold and impersonal, as medical settings often can.
Pain free — Since the breast images are being taken with a special F.D.A. approved, thermal imaging camera, there didn’t need to be any contact between my breasts and the machine. This was a huge relief, as I’ve heard from many women that mammograms can be awkward and painful.
Peace of mind — Thermography uses your body’s own natural heat to form its images so there is no use of any type of harmful radiation. The procedure is non-invasive as well, so there is no stressful expectation of discomfort or pain. In addition, the image screen is set up right next to you so can see the images as they’re being taken. It was pretty cool to see the heat patterns in my body!
Quick and convenient — The total amount of time I spent in the office for my thermogram was about 30 minutes and I had my printed out images with detailed results and explanations in the mail in about a week!
Altogether having a thermographic reading at Thermographic Diagnostic Imaging was quick, pain free, and stress free. The staff was kind, welcoming and knowledgable. It’s not often that women can say that they don’t dread going to the doctor in this capacity. However, I’m happy to report that this is a procedure I am more than comfortable to repeat as often as recommended.
